Prize Blog - Find an activity to do with your campers!

Hey Everybody,

I promise this prize blog is easier than last weeks! That magic number squares puzzle is hard, but I was very excited when I finally figured out the answer around 1am in the middle of the night. So, I'm going to not tell you the answer yet, just in case some of you want to figure it out once you are done with school for the year (I will probably still be willing to give a prize).

For this prize blog...

Find a game or activity you would like to do with your campers this summer, and post it on here. Please include enough details about the game or activity that others can also do it at camp this summer, meaning do not just post the name of the game. However, you can copy and paste the rules/description. (I told you this prize blog was easier than the last)

Happy Camping,
Squirrel

P.S. Get excited for next week's prize blog... because I will be at camp and already have an idea for a fun one. :0)

  1. I made ice cream as a community builder in my dorm this year, and I thought it would be really fun to do at camp. So, uh, I'm gonna be lazy and just post a link. But here you go :)

I recommend double-bagging the inside and wearing some gloves, it gets really cold.

  2. so you should take ice cream pales and freeze water in them and put the "ice bergs" in the lake for the polar bears to play with! Fun for polar dips! :)

  3. 1. I wanna be a polar bear when that happens!
    2. My favorite activities with my campers are definitely scavenger hunts. Of course, these tend to take some more time/planning than most quick activities, but it's totally worth it.
-With mine, I usually start with a theme of some sort. For example, my co-staff and I were teaching the girls fire building, so we incorporated the scavenger hunt into the fire building. (The fire gods left us a note saying everything we had to do or find in order for us to be able to light the fire. Otherwise matches did not work. :P)
-Depending on the age group, attention span and time to work with, I usually do anywhere from 5 to 12 clues/stations around camp. With younger girls, I try to not make them walk as far out as with older girls. That's how they get bored.
-Each clue generally has an activity or challenge with it that the girls must complete or a riddle to solve in order to get to the next clue.
-At the end of the hunt, I like to have a snack of some sort in the lodge or other fun reward for working together and running around all morning/afternoon. It is usually associated with the clues from the hunt.
    3. OMG CAMP IS SO CLOSE!! I can almost taste it!
